Bitcoin Runes activity rebounds with daily transactions topping 490,000

By Maria Irene · 3 Nov 2026

Bitcoin’s Runes protocol is showing renewed transaction activity, with more than 490,000 transactions recorded on 31 October, according to on-chain data.

Figures from CoinGlass put daily Runes transactions at 490,747 on that date, up 162.2 per cent from the previous day. Activity was also 96.65 per cent higher over the preceding 30 days, suggesting a recovery after a quieter period for the Bitcoin-based token protocol.

The cumulative number of Runes transactions has passed 222 million, according to Glassnode data, although this running total reflects all recorded activity since the protocol launched in April 2024 and does not, by itself, indicate current adoption or trading demand.

The renewed activity has drawn attention from projects building around the Bitcoin ecosystem. Odin.fun, a platform associated with the Runes market, says it intends to play a role in the protocol’s next phase.

In a recent update, the platform said Runes had continued to develop during the quieter months, adding that its infrastructure and ecosystem were still being built. It described the latest transaction figures as evidence of renewed momentum.

Runes was introduced in April 2024 as a protocol for issuing and managing fungible tokens directly on the Bitcoin blockchain. It attracted considerable activity following its launch, although interest later cooled as the initial wave of transactions subsided.

The latest figures point to a rise in on-chain activity, but transaction counts alone do not establish whether the protocol is seeing a sustained increase in users, token values or trading volume. Repeated operations and automated activity can also contribute to higher totals.

Whether the recent increase develops into a longer-term recovery will depend on continued activity across the ecosystem and demand for Runes-based assets.
