The DOM wallet has launched a new District Explorer that allows anyone to explore Bitcoin blocks as individual districts, bringing together artwork, block information and community contributions in one place.
Available at bitmap.media/district, the explorer lets users enter a Bitcoin block number or date and view the corresponding district. Each district features a hand-painted 32×32 canvas created by its owner, alongside information about the block and a public guestbook where visitors can leave their mark.
The explorer can be accessed without a wallet, with its reading features open to everyone.
Users who want to paint a district or sign its guestbook will continue to do so through the DOM wallet. The platform is designed so that a single identity can be used across the districts a person owns and their related activity.
For users interested in the underlying Bitcoin transactions, the explorer directs them to bitcoinculture.xyz/the-chain, which the project describes as a separate museum experience focused on the Bitcoin chain.
The team behind the project has described District Explorer as a fan tribute rather than an official Bitmap product. It says it is not affiliated with Bitmap and is instead experimenting with how elements of the concept could be rebuilt on the Internet Computer.
According to the project, Claude was used during the development process to explore which parts of the idea could be recreated as an on-chain experiment on the Internet Computer.
The District Explorer is now available at bitmap.media/district, offering a way to browse Bitcoin blocks one district at a time.
