Internet Computer edges closer to 300 billion transactions as activity levels climb

The Internet Computer, developed by Dfinity, is approaching a major usage mark with total transactions reaching around 293 billion. The network is now within roughly seven billion transactions of crossing the 300 billion threshold, a figure that highlights the scale of activity processed on the protocol since launch.

The blockchain has been handling more than 2,500 transactions per second, placing it among the higher throughput networks in the sector. This level of performance is often cited by supporters as a key differentiator for the Internet Computer, particularly when compared with other high-speed blockchains.

For context, Solana processes about 1,285 transactions per second and is widely regarded as one of the faster layer 1 networks in the crypto space. The comparison is frequently used in discussions around scalability, although both networks differ in design, architecture and use cases.

Reaching 300 billion total transactions would mark a notable point in the network’s operational history, reflecting sustained usage over time rather than a single spike in activity. The figure is being watched closely by developers and market participants who track throughput as one of several indicators of blockchain performance.

While transaction counts provide one view of network activity, broader assessments of blockchain ecosystems often also consider developer activity, application usage and real-world adoption.

Dear Reader,

Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.

We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.

If you find value in what we publish—whether it’s deep dives into dApps, explainers on decentralised tech, or just keeping track of what’s moving in Web3—please consider making a donation. It helps us cover costs, stay consistent, and remain truly independent.

Your support goes a long way.
