Internet Computer Overtakes Solana in Network Activity

The Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) has recently surged ahead of Solana on one measure of blockchain performance, becoming the most active network by development activity. Recent tracking of code updates and developer contributions shows ICP at the top of the rankings, reflecting a period of heightened building and experimentation on the network.

Solana, however, continues to hold strong in other areas, particularly in attracting new developers and sustaining high user engagement. Reports indicate that it has seen a sharp rise in the number of newcomers joining its ecosystem over the past year, maintaining a robust developer community and a broad range of decentralised applications in active use.

On network speed, the Internet Computer has proven capable of processing thousands of transactions per second, positioning it among the fastest public blockchains. While this technical performance is a strength, Solana still commands a far larger market capitalisation and remains a dominant player in areas such as trading volumes and total value locked.

Suggestions that ICP now hosts the majority of blockchain activity require a more cautious reading. While the development numbers are impressive, wider indicators still favour Solana in terms of scale and adoption. The reality is that both networks are advancing quickly, with ICP gaining momentum through developer focus and Solana maintaining its lead in broader market presence.

This shift in activity highlights the competitive nature of blockchain ecosystems, where technical performance, developer engagement and user adoption each tell part of the story. For now, ICP’s rise marks an important moment for its community, while Solana’s entrenched position continues to give it a strong foothold.

Dear Reader,

Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.

We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.

If you find value in what we publish—whether it’s deep dives into dApps, explainers on decentralised tech, or just keeping track of what’s moving in Web3—please consider making a donation. It helps us cover costs, stay consistent, and remain truly independent.

Your support goes a long way.
