Juno updates focus on consistency as core modules move to ic_cdk v0.19.0

Juno has pushed out a fresh release that stays true to its usual approach: keep the ecosystem tidy and consistent, even when there is nothing flashy to unveil. Every module has been updated, though the changes lean firmly toward technical housekeeping rather than feature drops.

The entire system now runs on ic_cdk v0.19.0. Developers writing serverless functions in Rust will need to update their projects, and the move should be simple enough for anyone already working with the stack. One noticeable shift is that DID bindings for custom endpoints will now be generated using the @icp-sdk/bindgen tool rather than junobuild-didc. It is a small but clear move toward using a single, more unified toolchain across the ecosystem.

A handful of older Mission Control endpoints have been retired. These have been unused for quite some time, and most associated tools had already moved away from them. The removal appears to be long overdue rather than disruptive, though developers with very old integrations may want to double check any lingering dependencies.

The Observatory gains a practical upgrade with its switch to non-replicated HTTPS outcalls on IPv4 for sending monitoring emails. This avoids the proxy that was previously needed to communicate with Resend, which cuts out a third-party dependency and streamlines the workflow.

The Satellite receives a genuinely useful addition: a new endpoint called set_asset_token. This makes it possible to update the protection status of stored web assets, and the function is already available in the Console UI. It is a simple extension, yet one that gives developers more direct control over asset handling.

There is also an improvement aimed at local development. The emulator now supports testing Google authentication locally. Once credentials are set in the Skylab Console, the Observatory automatically begins monitoring Google for the public jwks required for the authentication process. This should make experimentation and troubleshooting far easier, especially for teams working with federated login flows.

Nothing in this release is designed to steal the spotlight, but taken together, the updates show a consistent effort to keep Juno smooth, current and reliable for the developers who depend on it.
