Menese Protocol is positioning privacy as a core feature for digital assets, with a plan to bring private asset functionality across different networks through the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP).
In a recent post, the protocol pointed to the rise of Zcash (ZEC) as evidence of continued interest in privacy-focused digital assets. Menese said its aim is to extend privacy capabilities to assets across multiple chains through ICP, describing the project as a digital assets operating system.
The protocol is also inviting community members to support its development and take part in what it calls a privacy ceremony. According to Menese, the project is preparing to move towards community governance through the Service Nervous System (SNS) this month.
SNS governance allows communities to participate in decisions concerning decentralised projects, including proposals and changes to how projects are managed. For Menese, the planned governance transition would give its community a greater role in the project’s future direction.
The project’s broader proposition centres on making privacy available across different digital assets rather than limiting privacy features to assets built specifically for that purpose. Menese’s plans rely on ICP as the underlying infrastructure for this approach.
Privacy remains an active area of development across digital assets, with projects taking different approaches to transaction confidentiality, asset transfers and user data protection. However, the practical reach of any cross-chain privacy system depends on its technical implementation, security, adoption and ability to work reliably across different networks.
Menese’s latest announcement therefore marks an early stage in its stated plans to expand private asset functionality through ICP, with community governance expected to play a larger role if the proposed SNS transition goes ahead.
Dear Reader,
Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.
We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.
If you find value in what we publish—whether it’s deep dives into dApps, explainers on decentralised tech, or just keeping track of what’s moving in Web3—please consider making a donation. It helps us cover costs, stay consistent, and remain truly independent.
Your support goes a long way.
