Mingle Berry Media has migrated its WordPress platform to the sovereign cloud on the Internet Computer, with the company saying the move includes the full WordPress backend rather than only the public website.
The migration covers the entire WordPress environment, including the dashboard, posts, pages, comments and media library, which the company says are operating live inside a canister on the Internet Computer network.
The announcement challenges a common view within parts of the web development and decentralised technology communities that a complete WordPress installation could not operate in a one to one form on chain. Mingle Berry Media says users can log in to a fully functional WordPress dashboard and manage content in the same way they would with a conventional hosting setup.
The website, The Healthy Home Economist Guide, has been migrated as part of the project, with the company emphasising that the backend and content management functions are included in the deployment.
The Internet Computer is a decentralised cloud computing network developed by the DFINITY Foundation. It is designed to host websites, applications and services directly on chain, rather than relying on traditional cloud infrastructure.
WordPress remains one of the world’s most widely used content management systems, powering a large share of websites globally. While various blockchain based publishing tools have emerged in recent years, running a complete WordPress environment on chain has generally been considered difficult because of the platform’s database, media and administrative requirements.
