Mingle Pay prepares Internet Computer-based payment platform for launch

Mingle Pay is preparing to launch a payment platform that aims to let businesses accept card, digital wallet and Internet Computer-based payments through a single checkout.

The project says its infrastructure runs entirely on the Internet Computer, removing the need for merchants to operate their own payment server or expose an API key through a frontend integration. It also says payments move directly from the customer to the merchant, without Mingle Pay holding funds in an escrow account.

The planned service is designed to support conventional payment methods including cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna, Bizum, iDEAL and SEPA, alongside ckUSDC, ICP, ckBTC and ckETH payments made directly from a customer’s wallet.

For merchants, Mingle Pay says the integration can be handled through a single checkout link. Developers building on Caffeine can also use the project’s SDK, with Oisy cited as an initial wallet for testing payments.

Privacy is another part of the platform’s design. Mingle Pay says customer addresses are encrypted with vetKeys before leaving the buyer’s browser and are tied to the merchant’s identity. According to the project, the encryption means neither Mingle Pay nor node providers can read the information.

The service also introduces what it calls Singularity Shield, a monitoring system intended to act as an emergency brake. The watcher can halt activity within seconds, according to Mingle Pay, but is deliberately unable to restart the system, move funds or alter configuration settings. The project has also set daily spending limits for each currency, describing the limits as a way of restricting the potential impact of an incident.

Mingle Pay plans to support subscriptions through a single wallet approval, with customers able to cancel by revoking that approval. The platform is also designed to record payment status changes on chain, giving merchants a way to verify transaction states independently.

The approach reflects a broader push to combine familiar online payment methods with infrastructure built on decentralised networks. For merchants, however, the practical test will be whether the service can deliver the reliability, payment coverage, customer support and compliance requirements expected from established payment providers.

There are also differences in how the various payment methods work. Card and local payment options depend on conventional payment networks and providers, while wallet-based payments require customers to hold and authorise transactions from compatible wallets. Merchants will need to consider those differences when deciding which options to make available to customers.

Mingle Pay is currently described as nearly ready for launch. The project has made its payment service available through pay.mingleberrymedia.com and has published its developer SDK on GitHub.

The project’s claims about privacy, security and direct payment flows are based on its stated architecture and will ultimately need to be assessed through real-world use, independent scrutiny and the performance of the underlying infrastructure.
