Multi/Dex Canister Set for Long-Term Cycles Support as Jupiter Faucet Plans Permanent Contribution

The Multi/Dex canister could remain at the same identifier through its transition to production, allowing future infrastructure support from projects such as Jupiter Faucet.

The discussion started after X user @bjoerntm asked whether the canister ID for Multi/Dex would remain constant after the current game mode, as Jupiter Faucet was considering an immutable endowment through the Jupiter Faucet protocol to permanently contribute cycles to the canister.

Dominic Williams replied that the canister could keep the same ID during the current phase before moving into production, where control would then transition through the Network Nervous System.

The Multi/Dex canister is designed to automatically distribute cycles to ledger canisters, while the Arb canister is currently used during play mode to simulate production conditions. The Arb canister will be removed once the system moves into production.

Williams also noted that, in production, Multi/Dex will be able to use its treasury to buy ICP through its own markets to generate cycles. This approach is expected to help the platform become self-sustaining as activity grows.

The proposed Jupiter Faucet contribution reflects a wider focus on creating automated funding models for decentralised infrastructure. Rather than depending on regular manual cycle additions, projects can explore mechanisms that provide ongoing operational support.

The final production setup, including governance arrangements and long-term funding mechanisms, will be established as Multi/Dex moves through its development stages.

Dear Reader,

Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.

We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.

If you find value in what we publish—whether it’s deep dives into dApps, explainers on decentralised tech, or just keeping track of what’s moving in Web3—please consider making a donation. It helps us cover costs, stay consistent, and remain truly independent.

Your support goes a long way.
