The Internet Computer’s Network Nervous System (NNS) has rolled out its new Neuron Index API, offering the community an open view of all neurons and their metadata while ensuring private data remains protected.
This update gives developers and governance participants easier access to public neuron information, improving visibility into voting and delegation activity across the network. The Neuron Index API marks another step towards more transparent governance while maintaining user privacy.
New follow rules have also been introduced. Users can now follow any public neuron, but private neurons can only be followed by their controller or hotkey. Following non-existent neurons has been blocked to prevent errors, while existing follows will remain valid.
By tightening follow permissions and exposing accurate metadata, the change aims to streamline the governance process and make the NNS more reliable for those participating in Internet Computer decision-making.
