New Runes-to-Runes Swap Launches on RichSwap, Aims for Smoother Bitcoin DEX Experience

RichSwap has introduced a Runes-to-Runes swap feature, enabling direct trades between Rune tokens on its Bitcoin layer-1 decentralised exchange. The update means users only need to create a single Rune/BTC liquidity pool, simplifying the process while helping maintain tighter liquidity and reducing price impact.

The swap works through a two-step process bundled into one transaction. It first converts RuneA to BTC, then swaps that BTC for RuneB, all in a single PSBT signed by smart contracts. This setup uses Decentralised PSBT Signing (DPS), which lowers fees and reduces the load on the Bitcoin network.

Liquidity providers earn 0.7% of all trading volume in fees and can list any Rune without seeking permission. Setting up a pool gets a token listed on RichSwap, connecting it directly with traders.

This feature also highlights what the platform’s underlying Runes Exchange Environment (REE) can handle in practice. RichSwap has positioned itself as part of a growing group of projects aiming to bring more DeFi functionality directly to Bitcoin without relying on wrapped assets or external chains.

While the swap feature marks a technical step forward, the platform’s recent history has made some users cautious. Earlier this year, a security exploit exposed vulnerabilities in contract logic, prompting a temporary shutdown. Since then, the team has implemented fixes and committed to further audits and risk monitoring.

Early user feedback has been positive, especially from mobile users who can now access Rune trading through wallet integrations. Still, the feature is launching into an ecosystem that’s still maturing, and some may prefer to wait for broader testing before committing liquidity.

The addition of Rune-to-Rune swapping offers a more streamlined trading experience for Bitcoin-native DeFi participants, but like all innovations in this space, its long-term value will depend on continued security and performance under real market conditions.
