NNS governance app adds action cards, privacy mode and ICP supply lock view

By Maria Irene · 26 Oct 2026

The Internet Computer’s Network Nervous System (NNS) governance app has introduced updates following community feedback, adding interactive summary cards, a privacy mode for balances and a visual breakdown of how ICP tokens are locked.

Yusef Habib, a senior software engineer at the DFINITY Foundation, outlined the changes after asking the community two weeks ago what improvements they wanted in the governance app.

The updated summary cards now let users take action directly from the app. Users with dissolved ICP can access the disbursement option, those whose maturity rate is below the maximum can increase it, and open proposals can be voted on from the relevant cards.

A new privacy mode is designed for situations where users want to keep their account balances hidden from people nearby. Tapping the eye icon replaces balances with dots across the app, with the figures remaining concealed until the user switches the feature off.

The update also introduces a visual view of locked ICP supply. A single bar shows ICP across different lock states, including tokens locked for the maximum two-year period, shorter locks, dissolving neurons and tokens that are not locked. Users can hover over or tap the bar to see the corresponding figures.

The changes aim to make common governance tasks easier to access and give users a clearer view of how their ICP is committed within the network.

Hardware wallet support is the next planned addition, according to Habib. The feature is intended to let users sign transactions involving their ICP and neurons on their own hardware device while using the app.
