Odin.fun outlines locking, staking and V2 migration plans

Odin.fun has provided an update on its roadmap, covering token locking, staking, the planned migration from V1 to V2 and security measures introduced following an earlier security incident.

The platform said its token locking feature is code-complete and has completed testing, with a final AI-assisted security review now underway. It expects the feature to be ready within days. Unlike staking, locking will not generate a yield.

Staking is at an earlier stage. According to the update, token creators will be able to reserve part of their token supply for rewards and establish conditions for participants, such as locking tokens for a set period in exchange for a specified reward. The code has been written and preliminary testing completed, although Odin.fun has not provided a firm release date.

The platform is also preparing a V1 to V2 migration process. Migration will not happen automatically or on a one-to-one basis. For each token selected for migration through the voting process, about 10 per cent of its V1 supply will initially move to V2.

Of that amount, half will go directly into the V2 liquidity pool, while the remaining half will be locked and released over time. Odin.fun said it will provide most of the Bitcoin-side liquidity for the V2 pools.

Token holders will need to actively commit during a separate commitment phase, meaning a vote alone will not trigger migration. The platform said the speed at which the locked portion is released will depend on the health of the resulting V2 liquidity pool.

A dedicated migration application is in final testing, with a release currently estimated at a few weeks away. Token holders can vote on which V1 tokens should migrate first through the project’s roadmap.

Odin.fun also reiterated its existing V1 compensation policy, under which 100 per cent of V2 profit is intended to go towards closing the V1 deficit. The platform said V2 is currently operating at a loss, meaning no compensation has been paid so far.

It identified increased V2 trading volume and potentially securing outside investment specifically allocated to the V1 deficit as possible ways to accelerate the process.

Security has also been a focus of the update. Odin.fun said it has introduced two-factor authentication and passkey support through Google Authenticator, along with a new decentralised and automated withdrawal verification system. The platform said the additional verification means withdrawals may take slightly longer.

It also said frontier AI models are being used continuously to test its smart contracts for potential weaknesses.

Communities are already live on the platform, allowing owners to receive a share of fees generated by members’ trading activity. Over the coming one to three months, Odin.fun expects to introduce locking, continue work on staking and release the migration application.

The platform also outlined an upcoming product called Odin Connect, an SDK intended to allow third-party websites and applications to integrate Odin login and balances.

According to the update, connecting an application would not provide access to user funds. Deposits would require separate approval for each action, while developers would have access to an open-source smart contract template for applications such as staking games, DeFi and social platforms.

Odin.fun said the migration application will be the first application built using the Odin Connect approach.
