Odin.fun rolls out moderation and security updates in Week 37 development report
Odin.fun has outlined a series of platform updates in its Week 37 development report, covering community moderation, live chat, input validation, monitoring and dependency security.
The latest update records 128 commits and 44 pull requests, with several changes focused on how communities handle banned users.
Under the revised moderation system, banning a user no longer removes their community membership. Privileged roles are demoted when a ban is applied, while the ban status is now stored directly on the member record.
The platform has also updated its moderation interface, allowing administrators to ban or unban users through the relevant API field. Changes are reflected through automatic table refreshes, while an admin indicator has been added to the chat sidebar.
Banned users’ messages are now hidden from live community chat in real time. The update also addresses reconnect behaviour, where previously loaded messages could potentially reappear through the system’s gap-filling process.
Odin.fun said push-based live comments and community chat using WebSocket technology are currently in staging. The gateway is already running in production, with the feature being gradually rolled out behind a flag.
The development team has also tightened input validation across stored text fields, covering user profiles, community profiles and token metadata. The changes include data received through on-chain writes from the platform’s event indexer.
Monitoring and alerting have received further changes, with critical alerts now generating dedicated PagerDuty incidents. The team said datasource errors are no longer treated as product outages, while alert rule windows, denominators and scopes have been recalibrated.
Observability deployments have also been adjusted so that rollout completion is confirmed before a deployment is reported as successful.
The update additionally reports that five dependency advisories have been cleared.
Odin.fun described the latest work as part of its ongoing approach to developing the platform publicly, with weekly updates tracking changes across infrastructure, moderation and user-facing features.
