Plug Adds Internet Identity Login to Web Wallet

Plug Wallet has added Internet Identity as a new authentication option, allowing users to access the Plug Web Wallet fully on-chain through the Internet Computer. The update brings passwordless login to Plug’s browser-based wallet and deepens its alignment with the on-chain identity model promoted across the ICP ecosystem.

The new option lets users sign in with Internet Identity, developed by DFINITY, directly from the Plug Web Wallet at app.plugwallet.ooo. With Internet Identity now supported, Plug users can authenticate without seed phrases or traditional credentials while keeping control of their assets through on-chain mechanisms.

Plug is built as a non-custodial, multi-chain wallet with a strong focus on the Internet Computer. Developed by the Psychedelic team in collaboration with DFINITY, Plug Wallet supports native activity across networks including ICP, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Dogecoin, and a wide range of EVM-compatible chains. The wallet has grown from a browser extension into a broader suite spanning web, mobile, and extension environments.

Internet Identity, now available as a login method on Plug, acts as a decentralized authentication layer that replaces usernames and passwords with cryptographic credentials tied to a user’s devices. Its integration into the Plug Web Wallet means users can interact with decentralized apps and manage assets in a way that stays entirely on-chain, without relying on centralized identity providers.

The move follows Plug’s recent launch of its web wallet hosted on the Internet Computer, completing its transition toward a fully on-chain product stack. Earlier updates over the past month expanded native support for Dogecoin, added cross-chain swaps between EVM networks and Solana, and rolled out broader chain coverage across both mobile and extension versions. The addition of Internet Identity builds on that momentum by tightening the link between wallet access and decentralized identity.
