Silicon Valley Talks ICP: Web3, AI, and the Self-Writing Internet

Cryptographers, blockchain pioneers, and AI researchers gathered at two of the most influential universities in the United States this week to discuss the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) and its expanding role in decentralized technology.

Jan Camenisch, Chief Technology Officer at the DFINITY Foundation, addressed the Haas Blockchain Club at UC Berkeley on February 11, walking attendees through the cryptographic foundations of privacy and security in decentralized systems. A day later, Camenisch took the stage at Stanford University, continuing the conversation on decentralized computing and the potential of ICP in shaping a new digital era.

Pierre Samaties, Chief Business Officer at DFINITY, took a closer look at Decentralized AI (DeAI) and how ICP could make a self-writing Internet possible. He described a future where AI and blockchain are entirely on-chain, removing the need for centralized gatekeepers and ensuring transparent, trustless interactions.

The events also featured discussions with industry leaders in AI and blockchain innovation. Regan Peng of PIN AI, Georgi Koreli of Hinkal, Vicente Bermudez of Keygate Vault, and Yash Belavadi of Surge shared their insights as founders working at the intersection of decentralized AI and Web3.

With blockchain and AI rapidly evolving, ICP’s role in decentralization continues to draw attention from both academia and industry. The discussions at Berkeley and Stanford reflect the growing curiosity around how blockchain can redefine trust, transparency, and automation in the digital world.
