Tendies proposal aims to launch new community-owned SNS on the Internet Computer

A new proposal has landed on the Internet Computer’s Network Nervous System (NNS) to launch Tendies (TENDY) — a lighthearted but fully decentralised Service Nervous System (SNS) experiment built around community governance.

Described as “a chicken tender on the Internet Computer,” Tendies fuses humour with real decentralisation, aiming to create a transparent, self-governing ecosystem owned entirely by its users.

The team has submitted the proposal through ic-toolkit.app, outlining a governance framework and token model designed for open participation and fair decision-making.

Under the proposal, governance will be powered by the TENDY token. The minimum stake to participate is set at 1 TENDY, with a minimum dissolve delay of one month required to vote. The proposal rejection fee is 0.5 TENDY, and each proposal will have a four-day voting window, extendable by one day under the “wait-for-quiet” rule to ensure fair last-minute participation.

To reward active contributors, Tendies introduces a structured voting bonus system. Neurons locked for six months can receive a 100% dissolve delay bonus, while those aged up to a year gain an additional 100% age bonus. The initial reward rate starts at 3.5%, gradually declining to 0% over 36 months, promoting early involvement and long-term engagement.

The proposal’s swap settings open participation to anyone contributing between 1 ICP and 50,000 ICP, with the same range applying per participant. The total ICP cap for the swap stands at 50,000, and a minimum of two participants is required for launch. Half of the swap allocation will be instantly unlocked, while the remaining 50% will carry a one-month dissolve delay.

Geographical restrictions exclude users from Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran, Laos, Russia, and Venezuela.

Tendies’ tokenomics define 176,000 TENDY governance tokens, distributed as follows: 98,000 to the treasury, 17,600 to the development neuron, and 60,400 for the SNS swap. The treasury will retain 10,000 TENDY after the swap, maintaining flexibility for community-led development.

The project also plans to register several canisters, including TENDY.zone, as part of its decentralised infrastructure.

While Tendies embraces a meme-inspired theme, it reflects a broader trend on the Internet Computer — where community-owned networks test how humour, creativity and governance can co-exist under a fully on-chain model. The proposal is now live for community review and voting through the NNS.
