Omnity Network Launches Decentralised Ordinals Indexer on Internet Computer

Louis Liu, founder of Omnity Network, has announced the launch of a decentralised Ordinals Indexer on the Internet Computer (ICP), marking a notable advancement in Bitcoin’s decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem. The new tool provides developers with real-time, trustless access to Bitcoin Ordinals data, enabling the creation of financial applications without relying on traditional bridges or custodians.

The Ordinals Indexer, which has indexed all Bitcoin blocks since the network’s inception, utilises nearly 200 GB of on-chain storage on ICP. This infrastructure supports growing demand for decentralised applications (dApps) that leverage Bitcoin-native assets, such as Ordinals and Runes. By enabling direct interaction with Bitcoin data, the indexer improves the reliability and security of DeFi platforms built on ICP.

Louis Liu’s Ordinals Indexer is part of a broader initiative to integrate Bitcoin with ICP’s Chain Fusion technology. This integration allows dApps to interact with Bitcoin without off-chain components. Applications such as Liquidium, Odin.Fun, and RichSwap are already using this infrastructure to offer lending, trading, and yield farming services directly on Bitcoin.

The launch of the Ordinals Indexer addresses a longstanding challenge in the Bitcoin DeFi space by providing a decentralised solution for indexing Ordinals data. It is expected to encourage further innovation, giving developers the tools to build secure and scalable applications entirely on-chain.

With this development, Louis Liu and the Omnity Network team are opening a new chapter for Bitcoin DeFi, making it easier for builders to create trustless, user-focused applications while strengthening the ecosystem’s on-chain capabilities.
