Williams pointed out that platforms like Lovable, which cater to self-writing applications, have achieved approximately 2.5 million weekly active users. In comparison, Ethereum, after mapping individual addresses to actual users, has a similar user base. This observation underscores the growing interest in platforms that offer more accessible and user-friendly development environments.
A notable concern raised by Williams is the prevalence of AI-related misinformation and deceptive practices within the Web3 space. He highlighted instances where screenshots from new Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) clones are being used to mislead users about the capabilities and performance of certain platforms. Such practices can contribute to a lack of trust and transparency in the ecosystem.
In contrast, the Internet Computer’s architecture allows for the deployment of AI models as smart contracts, making them tamper-proof and autonomous if required. This design ensures that applications and services can operate securely and independently, without reliance on centralised entities. The development of this infrastructure has been the result of approximately ten years of work and an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Williams also cautioned against the misleading nature of some advertisements in the blockchain space. He suggested that while many platforms claim to offer advanced AI capabilities, they often lack the foundational infrastructure to support such technologies effectively. This disparity can lead to inflated expectations and potential disappointments for users seeking genuine AI-powered solutions.
