Dominic Williams Unveils Mission 70 to Slash ICP Inflation by Over 70% in 2026

Dominic Williams, founder of the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), has announced Mission 70, an initiative aimed at reducing the network’s token inflation by more than 70% during 2026. The move addresses longstanding community concerns over high dilution rates, which have averaged between 5% and 10% annually since the network’s launch.

Over the past year, the ICP supply increased from 524.7 million to 539.3 million tokens, marking roughly 2.8% growth. Under Mission 70, annual inflation would drop to around 0.8%, representing one of the sharpest adjustments in the network’s monetary policy to date.

Williams shared the plan on X, emphasising the importance of controlling token supply to enhance economic stability and strengthen long-term confidence in the ecosystem. While detailed implementation strategies have yet to be outlined, the initiative signals a shift towards tighter, more predictable token issuance.

Industry analysts suggest that such a reduction in inflation could improve ICP’s appeal to both developers and holders seeking a stable and sustainable blockchain environment, potentially supporting growth and adoption in the years ahead.

Mission 70 highlights the Internet Computer team’s commitment to evolving the network’s economic framework while responding to the community’s calls for more disciplined supply management.
