Quantum Leap: Singapore’s First Quantum Bootcamp Kick-starts Next Gen Tech Whizz Kids

In a landmark initiative, SoftServe, a premier IT consulting firm, in alliance with the National Quantum Computing Hub (NQCH) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), has launched Singapore’s maiden Quantum Bootcamp. The groundbreaking educational initiative has been rolled out for students aspiring to carve out a niche in the quantum computing arena.

The Quantum Bootcamp is an intense eight-week program, a first in Asia, that offers recent university graduates an in-depth curriculum combining theoretical instruction, practical applications, and hands-on experiences. The program seeks to fill in the existing talent gap in the quantum computing landscape, while also offering networking opportunities with multinational giants such as NVIDIA, IBM, and AWS.

Wen Huang, SoftServe APAC’s Chief Technology Officer, expressed the company’s pride in spearheading this transformative program. “SoftServe’s commitment towards innovation, engineering excellence, and talent development aligns with the Quantum Bootcamp’s objectives. We are excited to drive more initiatives like this, establishing Singapore as a global hotspot for innovation,” said Huang.

The bootcamp concluded with presentations that showcased how quantum computing could revolutionize traditional methodologies and unlock untapped business opportunities, promising a new era of operational efficiency, cost optimization, and strategic decision-making.

José Ignacio Latorre, Lead Principal Investigator for the NQCH and Director of the Centre for Quantum Technologies, praised the participants’ determination and dedication. “Quantum technologies are here to stay, and the field is moving very fast. The students have done well to dive into the field and complete the program. We look forward to seeing where and how they will apply their training in the quantum ecosystem.”

The Quantum Bootcamp recognized three winners for the best overall project, best technical contribution, and most valuable to the industry. Entries were judged based on a broad range of quality indicators, including research and development attributes such as a functional proof of concept (PoC), innovative solutions, and the potential impact of quantum solutions on industry cases.

Koh Wee-Sain, Acting Cluster Director, Engineering, Biztech Group, IMDA, lauded the initiative, saying, “IMDA is thrilled to support the first bootcamp and initial steps toward shaping a new era of quantum computing intelligence and innovations. We’re eager to see this bootcamp bring those possibilities to life.”
