Sneed DAO has introduced a new tool that allows users to “jailbreak” SNS neurons from their NNS wallets, making them instantly tradable on the Sneedex marketplace. The release opens up a new level of liquidity for ICP users, offering a straightforward way to manage and trade previously locked assets.
The process involves adding a new principal as a hotkey with full permissions to an SNS neuron, without removing the neuron from the original NNS wallet. This enables multiple wallets to control the same neuron, providing flexibility for trading, escrow, or later restoration to the NNS wallet. Users who sell neurons on Sneedex will have the hotkeys automatically removed during escrow, but unsold neurons can always be returned to full control in the NNS wallet.
Using the tool requires three steps. First, users select the neuron and the principal to add, typically their Sneed Wallet principal. The tool then generates a custom script stored on Sneed DAO’s backend for future access. Finally, users log into their NNS wallet, paste the script into the browser console, and complete the process. Once done, neurons appear in both the Sneed Wallet and the original NNS wallet, ready for trading.
Sneed DAO emphasises that while the process is straightforward, it carries inherent risks. Pasting scripts from the internet into a wallet console should only be done if the source is trusted. Despite this caution, the tool is designed to give users full control over their neurons, and new SNS neurons created through the Sneed Hub SNS staking wizard or directly in the Sneed Wallet are liquid from the start.
The DAO has also introduced a pricing structure. Sneed Premium members enjoy an 80% discount on using the tool, with daily passes available for 0.1 ICP and monthly passes for 1 ICP. Standard users pay 5 ICP to jailbreak neurons, covering operational costs. Staking Sneed DAO members benefit from free premium membership extensions.
This release marks a notable step for liquidity within the ICP ecosystem. SNS neurons, which were traditionally staked and locked in NNS wallets, can now be moved into active circulation, increasing trading opportunities and market activity. The ability to liquidate or trade neurons directly offers users new ways to monetise previously static holdings, while maintaining safety and control through the original NNS wallet.
For traders, the tool also introduces strategic flexibility. Neurons can be quickly moved between wallets, used in trading strategies, or deployed as part of larger investment plans on Sneedex. The escrow mechanism ensures that all trades are executed securely, while unsold neurons remain fully accessible.

By lowering the technical barrier, the platform encourages broader participation in ICP DeFi and provides a practical route for both new and experienced users to engage with SNS neurons.
