The proposed standard seeks to offer an affordable, seamless alternative for creators, amidst growing demand for Bitcoin Ordinals that has increasingly strained Bitcoin’s block spaces.
Unlike the traditional Bitcoin Ordinals, Luminex’s BRC69 simplifies the creation process. Creators can inscribe digital traits for their collection, deploy these on-chain using JSON code to offer critical information on traits and sources, compile the collection via JavaScript for digital asset inscription, and finally mint BRC69 assets through an HTML inscription that consolidates all information into a single line of code.
A key standout feature of the BRC69 standard is its customization abilities. Using simple code lines and on-chain features, creators can launch entire collections with on-chain pre-reveals. A drag-and-drop function even enables the generation of Recursive Ordinals.
“BRC69’s brilliance is its simplicity. Minters only need to inscribe a single line of text rather than a full image, allowing the final image to be auto-rendered on all ordinals-frontends, using only on-chain resources, thanks to recursive inscriptions,” Luminex’s team expressed in a statement.
For the uninitiated, Bitcoin Ordinals is a revolutionary protocol on the Bitcoin blockchain, enabling data inscription on Bitcoin’s smallest units (Satoshi). These inscriptions, known as Ordinals, facilitate the creation of collections similar to popular Ethereum ones. Although Bitcoin NFT transactions witnessed a 42.36% drop last month, the market has seen tremendous growth since the Ordinals standard launched in January.
