Food delivery service Just Eat France now accepts Bitpay

With home delivery services in demand during the pandemic and the use of cash declining, several players in the food industry are turning to crypto

Food delivery service Just Eat France has started accepting Bitcoin payments for orders placed from over 15,000 restaurants in the country. The delivery service is using Bitpay as its Bitcoin payment provider.

With home delivery services in demand during the coronavirus pandemic, and the use of cash declining, it is no surprise that the food industry is now turning to crypto as a viable payment option for customers.

Just Eat France does not charge any fees for Bitcoin payments. To make a Bitcoin payment, customers just need to create a digital wallet by downloading special software or an app.

Payments using Bitcoin will be calculated based on the current price charged by Bitpay. However, if a Bitcoin payment is cancelled, the customer will be refunded in Euros, with payment being sent to a customer’s traditional bank account.

BitPay is a bitcoin payment service provider headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, founded in 2011 by Tony Gallippi and Stephen Pair. BitPay provides Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash payment processing services for merchants.

In 2013, BitPay announced that they had raised $2 million via Founders Fund and that same year reached the milestone of 10,000 merchants.

In August, the world’s largest provider of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency payment services, announced that it has enhanced its service to make it easier for Coinbase users to spend crypto including USD Coin, Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies at BitPay enabled merchants directly from a Coinbase account.

These enhancements allow consumers to make payments directly from the Coinbase account to BitPay merchants, eliminating the peer to peer movement of funds. The phased rollout starts with transactions under $1,000.
