After a successful pre-alpha demo playtest, Nyan Heroes, an Overwatch-esque hero shooter with NFT assets and Solana blockchain integration, is gearing up for its second pre-alpha demo playtest period starting May 8. This relaunch brings with it an exciting new addition: a ranked mode for players seeking a competitive edge.
Creative Director and CEO Max Fu of 9 Lives Interactive revealed that the playtest is scheduled until May 26, with the possibility of an extension. Alongside this, Nyan Heroes has launched the second season of its play-to-airdrop campaign, offering players more ways to earn rewards that will contribute to the upcoming NYAN token airdrop on Solana.
In the first season, players earned MEOW points by completing various in-game quests. These quests ranged from playing matches to achieving specific kill counts. Now, season two introduces CATNIP points, which reward gameplay performance and amplify a player’s airdrop allocations. CATNIP will persist across future seasons, adding depth to the game’s reward system.
Additionally, players can earn CATNIP through social media engagement via Nyan Heroes’ play-to-airdrop dashboard, expanding the avenues for accumulating rewards beyond in-game activities.
Nyan Heroes has seen significant success, boasting over 200,000 downloads on the Epic Games Store and reaching a peak of over 45,000 daily active users during the initial pre-alpha playtest. Notably, 20% of these users were categorized as “Web2 players,” indicating a crossover appeal beyond the traditional gamer base associated with the Epic Games Store.
