A fresh update to ICP Index has introduced a set of new features aimed at improving usability while encouraging more consistent user activity.
The update focuses on simplifying how users interact with token data on the platform. One of the more noticeable changes is the ability to search tokens by name, removing the need to manually enter canister IDs. For users who track multiple assets, this adjustment is expected to reduce friction in day-to-day use.
Alongside this, a points-based system has been introduced to reward engagement. Users can earn points through actions such as voting, listing tokens, promoting projects and referring others to the platform. The system also includes streak incentives, where consecutive daily participation increases rewards over time. A seven-day streak doubles points, while a 30-day streak triples them.
A new leaderboard ranks users based on total points, offering a breakdown of how those points were earned. The feature adds a competitive element, giving users visibility into activity across the platform and how others are engaging with its tools.
Social sharing has also been streamlined. After listing a token, users can share it directly on X with a built-in referral link, reducing the steps needed to promote listings externally. Another addition allows users to list multiple tokens in succession without returning to the main interface.
Performance improvements form a central part of the update. Page load times for prices, sentiment indicators and token data have been reduced, addressing earlier issues where information would briefly disappear during refresh. A bug that caused the site to crash when handling large volumes of tokens has also been resolved.
Error handling has been refined, with clearer messages now displayed when a token’s canister is no longer active. The sentiment widget has also been adjusted to prevent unrelated tokens from appearing, a problem that had been noted by some users.
While the update introduces several usability improvements, the addition of gamified elements such as points, streaks and leaderboards may shape how users interact with the platform over time. These systems can encourage participation, though their long-term impact often depends on whether they lead to sustained engagement or short bursts of activity.
For now, the update reflects an effort to make ICP Index easier to navigate while adding incentives that reward regular use. Further updates are expected in the coming days as the platform continues to refine its features.
