The organisers of the “You chat, AI builds” Promptathon have announced the top winners from a competition that invited people to create apps through everyday conversations with AI.
Over the past few weeks, participants built projects centred on creativity, reflection and personal growth, showing how quickly an idea can move from a simple prompt into something interactive and usable. Rather than requiring deep coding expertise from the start, the Promptathon focused on a different kind of building process, one where conversation becomes the starting point for design.
The team behind the initiative thanked everyone who took part, saying the quality of submissions reflected genuine effort and openness. Many of the apps were shaped by personal experiences, with creators using AI tools to turn real needs into practical digital spaces.
While the event highlighted three prize winners, organisers suggested the broader value lay in the range of ideas shared. Across the entries, there was a clear interest in tools that help people stay grounded, develop better habits, and find moments of calm in busy routines.
Third place, receiving $2,000, went to @pticaptica2 for Brutal Sobriety Tracking, a straightforward app designed to help users stay accountable in their sobriety journey. Its direct tone is part of the concept, offering a no-frills way for users to check in with themselves and keep track of progress. Apps like this sit at the intersection of wellbeing and personal discipline, where small daily actions can matter.
Second place, with a $3,000 prize, was awarded to @mazen_zibara for Lo-fi, a digital space built to help users focus, think or create without distraction. The app aims to provide a quiet environment, appealing to students, writers, or anyone trying to step away from constant notifications. In an online world that often rewards noise, Lo-fi takes the opposite approach by prioritising stillness and concentration.
First place, earning $5,000, went to @daveDash2000 for Innerbloom, a meditation and reflection tool that stood out for its calm, thoughtful design. It is intended as a companion for users looking to slow down, breathe, and spend time with their thoughts. Meditation apps are not new, but Innerbloom’s creation through conversational prompting highlights how quickly personal wellness tools can now be developed.
The Promptathon reflects a growing trend of people using AI-powered building platforms for projects that feel personal and emotionally aware, rather than purely technical or commercial. It also points to a shift in how digital products can be created, with natural language becoming part of the development process.
Organisers closed by congratulating all participants and expressing gratitude to those who shared their ideas publicly. Even for those who did not place, the event served as a reminder that creativity and self-improvement tools can come from simple beginnings, sometimes starting with nothing more than a chat prompt and an idea worth exploring.
