Bitcoin’s base layer has a new gateway for memecoins with the launch of Satsman.fun by Omnity Network, aiming to bring meme tokens back to the world’s most widely recognised blockchain. The platform allows users to claim unique Rune names for less than a dollar, creating a potentially valuable identifier for future memecoins.
Satsman.fun introduces Smart Etch, a tool designed to make naming and launching memecoins permissionless and accessible to everyone. By enforcing uniqueness through the Runes meta-protocol, the platform aims to prevent duplicate tickers and guarantee scarcity. Over the next 25 months, short-name Runes—ranging from seven to one letter—will gradually become available, giving users a chance to claim names such as SATOCHI, PEPE, MOON, DOG, and AI.
The platform also supports on-chain token launches with built-in liquidity formation. Users contribute Bitcoin to Satsman agents, which distribute tokens proportionally and provide permanent liquidity on RichSwap, a fully on-chain Bitcoin L1 automated market maker. The system is designed to reduce competition from bots and provide a fairer launch environment than earlier models like Open Mint, which channelled most capital to miners and offered limited trading liquidity.
Omnity Network positions Satsman as a way to return memecoins to Bitcoin, highlighting the chain’s security, neutrality, and attention as ideal qualities for speculative and narrative-driven tokens. The launch reflects a broader effort to increase on-chain activity, supporting miners and reinforcing the Bitcoin network’s foundational security.
Satsman.fun is live now, and users can start etching their Rune names immediately, with permissionless launches scheduled for later this month.
