The MakerDAO community is abuzz with speculation as co-founder Rune Christensen dropped a bombshell on Twitter, suggesting that Solana might serve as the foundation for MakerDAO’s upcoming blockchain migration.
Dubbed “Endgame,” MakerDAO’s multi-year protocol overhaul is entering its final phase, signaling a significant development in the enduring rivalry between blockchain platforms.
In a late-night tweet, Christensen revealed, “The last phase of Endgame is the launch of a native blockchain for Maker with the codename NewChain.” However, it was his subsequent statement that raised eyebrows: “After some research, I believe the Solana codebase should be considered as the basis for NewChain.”
Christensen outlined three key reasons for this preference: Solana’s technical quality, its resilience following the FTX incident, and the success of Solana’s codebase in other projects through forks.
