Sneed Hub is pitching an ambitious future for decentralised automation on the Internet Computer, where personal staking and trading bots could operate fully on-chain, guided by AI and designed to remain secure, non-custodial, and tamper-resistant.
The idea centres around canisters deployed directly on ICP that act as personal agents. One proposed example is a staking bot that manages a user’s neurons, collects maturity, confirms followings, and even participates in governance voting.
What makes the concept stand out is the planned integration of AI decision support. Sneed describes a setup where a bot could hold a user’s private OpenAI API key and, when new governance proposals appear, call a language model through HTTPS outcalls. The model would then provide guidance based on the user’s own voting preferences, moral frameworks, or general instructions.
Supporters see this as a potential way to make on-chain governance more accessible, especially for users who struggle to keep up with frequent proposals. Critics, however, may raise questions about over-reliance on automated voting systems, the risks of outsourcing judgement to AI, and the broader implications for decentralised decision-making.
Alongside staking automation, Sneed Hub is also outlining plans for trading bots running as ICP canisters. These bots could receive forwarded staking maturity from the staking bot, creating a connected system where earned rewards become active capital for trading strategies.
The project suggests that these trading bots could collaborate with AI systems that monitor news, refine strategies, and provide updated guidelines. The long-term pitch is an ecosystem of autonomous on-chain agents that remain limited in scope, each with access only to the funds they are meant to manage.
Sneed Hub argues that this structure improves safety by reducing the blast radius of any single bot, while keeping execution transparent and resistant to external interference.
The first product currently available is the ICP Staking Bot, now in version 0.9.0. The team claims it is already changing liquid ICP staking by allowing bots, and the neurons they control, to be traded on Sneedex, even while the neurons themselves remain permanently tied to their bot canisters.
As with any early-stage DeFi automation tool, adoption will depend on reliability, user trust, and clear safeguards. The promise of AI-assisted staking and trading is appealing, but it also introduces new questions around control, accountability, and governance integrity.
