Internet Computer added to CF Web 3.0 Smart Contract Platforms Index

Internet Computer (ICP) has been added to the CF Web 3.0 Smart Contract Platforms Index as part of a correction to the index’s September 2026 reconstitution.

CF Benchmarks announced that ICP would be added to the index, while Aptos (APT), Arbitrum (ARB), Algorand (ALGO) and Polygon Ecosystem Token (POL) would be removed. The change took effect as part of the reconstitution scheduled for 1 September 2026.

The correction also confirmed that Stellar Lumens (XLM) would not enter the index. CF Benchmarks said this followed an update to its Digital Asset Classification Structure, with XLM’s classification reverting to Settlement, Non-Programmable, Payment & Store of Value, effective 19 June 2026.

The CF Web 3.0 Smart Contract Platforms Index tracks the performance of eligible smart contract platforms within the digital asset market. Its constituents are selected under CF Benchmarks’ classification and index methodology and weighted using capped free-float market capitalisation. The index is reconstituted and rebalanced quarterly.

For ICP, inclusion places the token within a benchmark that is designed to track smart contract platforms and is used in financial market products and analysis. CF Benchmarks has previously described the index as a liquid, investible benchmark portfolio.

The change does not itself mean that institutional investment in ICP will increase, but it gives ICP a place within an established digital asset index that can be referenced by market participants and products linked to the benchmark.

The correction was published by CF Benchmarks on 21 August, ahead of the September reconstitution.
