Developers using the Internet Computer Protocol have been experimenting with Caffeine AI to build working applications in record time, simply by entering plain language prompts. The early experiments range from robot battle arenas to classic card games, with projects emerging that showcase what this AI-assisted development can produce — when it works well, and when it still needs refining.
One of the more active testers has been Pokedstudio, who pushed Caffeine AI to create a robot battle game. The game allows users to pit their NFT-based robots against each other, with the AI generating game logic, user stats and visuals. The process, according to the developer, started off tricky but improved over time. Pokedstudio found that while the AI was good at following instructions, it struggled with integrating ICP NFTs fully, especially when it came to locating metadata and token files on demand. This gap pointed to an area where developers hope the tool will improve, as automatic NFT handling could unlock new ways to link digital assets with gaming applications.
Westcliff Technologies took a slightly different route, tasking Caffeine AI with building a blackjack game. The AI handled everything from the core logic to the user interface, completing a functional game within minutes. The result was a clean, playable version of blackjack built without manual coding. Westcliff shared the outcome as an example of how quickly simple apps can be prototyped using AI, especially for developers looking to test concepts before committing to a full build.
Both developers highlighted the positives and the work still to be done. While speed and ease of use impressed them, there was a common recognition that Caffeine AI, like most emerging tools, has its quirks. Some tasks required multiple prompt adjustments, especially when it came to integrating features specific to the ICP ecosystem. The AI’s handling of more advanced requests was mixed — sometimes delivering a ready-to-go app, other times needing manual tweaks.
That hasn’t stopped experimentation. Both the robot battle game and the blackjack app were shared with the community, reflecting a growing interest among builders to test AI-assisted development in open settings. The feedback loop between developers, the AI tool, and the wider Internet Computer community seems to be driving both curiosity and practical learning.
Whether the AI evolves to meet all the technical needs of on-chain app builders remains to be seen. For now, it’s giving developers a new way to think about getting projects off the ground. Even with its current limitations, Caffeine AI has shown that it can speed up the start of the creative process, providing a starting point for further refinement.
For many early users, the draw is less about finding a finished product and more about seeing how quickly they can go from idea to working prototype. The next steps will depend on how the AI develops — particularly around NFT handling and integration — and whether it can keep pace with the growing expectations of the developer community.
Dear Reader,
Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.
We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.
