ICP Exchange Balances Sit at 62.06 Million Tokens, Data Shows

The amount of ICP held on centralised exchange addresses currently stands at 62.06 million tokens, representing around 11.33 percent of the total supply, according to data from ICTerminal. The figures offer a snapshot of how much ICP is readily available for trading versus being held elsewhere in the ecosystem.

The chart data shows exchange balances trending higher over recent months, with periods of drawdown followed by renewed inflows. Such movements are often read as a proxy for shifting market behaviour. Rising balances can suggest increased readiness to trade or hedge, while declines may point to holders moving tokens into self-custody, staking, or longer-term positions.

At just over eleven percent, the share of ICP on exchanges remains relatively contained when compared with some other large-cap crypto assets, many of which see far higher proportions sitting on trading venues. Supporters of the Internet Computer often argue that lower exchange balances reflect stronger participation in governance and network activity, though this interpretation depends heavily on broader context and user intent.

At the same time, exchange supply alone does not tell a complete story. Tokens can move onto exchanges for a range of reasons beyond immediate selling, including liquidity provision, collateral management, or preparation for structured trades. Likewise, off-exchange holdings are not automatically long-term commitments and can return to exchanges quickly during periods of volatility.

Market observers tend to watch these metrics alongside price action, network usage, and staking data to build a fuller picture. A gradual rise in exchange balances can increase near-term liquidity, which may dampen sharp price moves, while sudden spikes often draw closer scrutiny for potential shifts in sentiment.

For now, the latest figures place ICP in a middle ground. A measurable portion of supply remains liquid and accessible, while the majority continues to sit outside exchanges. How that balance changes will likely depend on broader market conditions, network developments, and the behaviour of large holders over time.
