Plugbook launches unified usernames for cross-chain crypto transfers

Plug users now have a simpler way to manage their digital identity with the launch of Plugbook, a new username system built on ChainFusion technology. The feature lets people send cryptocurrency across supported networks by entering a single username rather than searching for separate wallet addresses on each chain.

Plugbook currently works across Bitcoin, Solana, EVM networks and the Internet Computer. A transfer sent to a Plugbook username is routed automatically to the correct chain and linked address, removing the usual back-and-forth involved in confirming where funds should go. The company says the aim is to strip away the friction that often puts off newcomers and slows down routine activity for regular users.

The update positions Plug as one of the growing number of wallets focusing on user-friendly design. As competition in multi-chain tools increases, features that lower the risk of mis-sending funds or managing long strings of characters have become a central point of differentiation. Plugbook fits neatly into that direction, offering a username format familiar to people used to social platforms or Web2 services.

Anyone who updates to the latest version of Plug can claim a custom username by tapping their profile emoji and selecting the edit option. Users can also set one of their NFTs as their profile picture, continuing the trend of personalisation features that have become popular across crypto-native apps.

Plugbook’s release is likely to draw interest from traders, creators and everyday users who prefer a lighter lift when moving assets across chains. While questions remain about long-term adoption and how well such systems perform under heavy traffic, the early reaction suggests people welcome anything that reduces the chance of error when sending crypto.

If Plugbook gains traction across the networks it supports, cross-chain transfers could feel far closer to sending a message than navigating a technical tool.
