Rentmase has announced plans to integrate Bitcoin and Internet Computer Protocol payments into its e-commerce platform, powered by chain fusion technology. The update will allow customers to transact directly on-chain, combining the established reach of Bitcoin with the scalability of ICP smart contracts.
Chain fusion is designed to enable real-time interactions between blockchains without relying on traditional bridges, which often introduce vulnerabilities or delays. For Rentmase users, this means that purchases approved in Bitcoin will be verified and settled through ICP canisters within seconds, maintaining the security of both networks.
The decision to support Bitcoin and ICP is a calculated one. Bitcoin, with its scale and liquidity, continues to be the most widely recognised cryptocurrency. ICP, on the other hand, offers high-speed execution and capacity for large volumes of transactions, features that are particularly relevant for retail operations. Together, they form a system aimed at delivering speed, resilience and usability.
The integration also brings wider benefits. Transaction fees are expected to be much lower than traditional payment methods, and purchases will be recorded immutably on-chain, reducing fraud risks. By eliminating the need for intermediaries, Rentmase hopes to provide greater security while opening access to users in regions where conventional banking infrastructure is limited.
The company has also indicated that the new payment system could support additional features such as loyalty rewards, DeFi-linked benefits and environmentally conscious practices. Early adopters are expected to receive credits once the service is launched, although the exact rollout timeline has yet to be confirmed.
By introducing on-chain payments through chain fusion, Rentmase is attempting to position itself at the intersection of retail and decentralised finance. The approach combines familiar consumer-facing shopping with emerging blockchain infrastructure, reflecting a broader move across the sector to bridge established digital assets with practical online use cases.
