The team behind decentralised AI platform funnAI has announced a rebrand to ONICAI, with its native $FUNNAI token set to become $ONICAI following the project’s planned Service Nervous System (SNS) launch.
The announcement marks the next phase for the platform as it prepares to transition to decentralised governance. While the team confirmed that the SNS launch is approaching, it said the exact timeline will be announced at a later date.
The rebrand will see the project operate under the ONICAI name while retaining its focus on building a decentralised AI ecosystem. The developers described the move as the beginning of a new chapter for the community, with the token migration forming part of the post-SNS rollout.
Alongside the announcement, the team confirmed it had completed an upgrade to the funnAI protocol. According to the developers, the maintenance resulted in a pause of around seven minutes before services resumed.
The latest update also introduces greater visibility for users topping up the protocol. The application now displays the current bonus in cycles being offered for top-ups, giving participants a clearer view of available incentives before making transactions.
The protocol update follows a series of ongoing improvements aimed at refining the platform ahead of its governance transition. Projects adopting the SNS framework on the Internet Computer typically hand control of protocol decisions to token holders through an on-chain governance system.
The ONICAI team has not yet released details on the token conversion process or the date for the SNS launch, saying further information will be shared in the coming weeks. Until then, existing users can continue using the platform while the project prepares for its next phase of development.
