Menese Protocol is moving to place its cross-chain liquidity infrastructure under community governance as part of its SNS process, following the launch of pools that the project says have already been operating in production.
The move comes as Menese develops its multichain trading infrastructure around the Internet Computer, with the project positioning its pools as a way for users to access liquidity across different networks.
Menese’s website currently lists eight decentralised exchanges operating across seven networks, including Ethereum, Solana, ICP, XRP, Cardano, Sui and NEAR. It also says users can execute cross-chain swaps and that liquidity provision is available alongside trading services.
The project has previously highlighted direct routes between ICP and assets such as SOL and USDC. Menese says its cross-chain pools are non-custodial and open to liquidity providers, giving users a way to contribute liquidity while supporting trading activity on the platform.
The latest SNS process changes the governance dimension of that infrastructure. Rather than relying solely on the development team to determine how the platform and its treasury are managed, an SNS can place key components under community control through proposals and voting.
Menese published its proposed SNS structure ahead of the vote, including details covering token distribution, treasury allocations, the decentralisation swap and the canisters that could come under community governance if the proposal passes.
For liquidity providers, the appeal is tied to the practical use of the pools. Providing liquidity can generate fees or other returns depending on the pool’s design and trading activity, although returns are variable and liquidity provision carries risks, including price movements and potential losses relative to simply holding the assets.
Menese describes its wider platform as a multichain operating system, with non-custodial wallets, cross-chain execution and decentralised exchange access. Its current site says the platform supports secure vaults across more than 20 chains and has eight DEX integrations live across seven chains.
The project’s approach is built around ICP infrastructure rather than a traditional centralised exchange model. Menese says users retain control of their keys and that transaction execution is secured at the protocol level.
The governance transition also places greater attention on how the project’s liquidity infrastructure develops over time. Community governance can influence decisions around treasury resources, upgrades and other parameters, depending on the final SNS configuration and approved proposals.
Menese’s cross-chain pools are aimed at addressing a familiar problem for users holding assets across different networks: accessing liquidity without having to manage a separate route for every network and asset combination.
The project’s recent activity suggests it is moving from building individual trading features towards establishing a broader operating model for multichain transactions. The success of that approach will depend on factors including liquidity depth, trading volumes, execution quality, security and continued participation from users and liquidity providers.
With the SNS process now bringing governance into the picture, the next stage will be whether community participation can support the platform’s expansion while maintaining the liquidity and infrastructure needed for its cross-chain services.
