Avalanche9000 Upgrade Introduces Permissionless Avalanche L1s, with Beam Leading the Charge

The recent Avalanche9000 upgrade has unlocked a game-changing feature for the Avalanche network, enabling permissionless Avalanche Layer 1 (L1) blockchains. This significant development allows any L1 that opts for a permissionless model to empower users with the ability to participate without needing approval from any central authority. This opens up the network for users to transact, deploy smart contracts, and, crucially, run validators, fostering a more decentralised and open ecosystem.

One of the first to take advantage of this new functionality is Beam Foundation (@BeamFDN), which has swiftly launched @BuildOnBeam as the first permissionless Avalanche L1. Through an ongoing node sale, Beam is paving the way for everyday gamers and other users to actively participate in securing the Beam L1 network, while also being rewarded for their contributions.

By offering permissionless access, Beam is breaking down barriers to entry and providing a unique opportunity for the broader community, including gamers, to become validators and take part in securing the network. This shift aligns with the broader push towards decentralisation, where individuals, rather than centralised entities, play a critical role in the governance and security of the network.

Beam’s initiative highlights the growing trend in blockchain technology to empower communities and decentralise control. The ongoing node sale is an exciting step in expanding the network’s reach and creating an inclusive environment where anyone can participate in the future of blockchain.

With the Avalanche9000 upgrade setting the stage for more permissionless L1s, the blockchain space is poised for greater decentralisation and user-driven innovation. Beam’s move sets a strong precedent, and it will be fascinating to see how other projects follow suit, further revolutionising the way decentralised networks operate.
