BIC inscriptions have added ICP as a new payment option, introducing a fresh way for users within the Internet Computer ecosystem to acquire districts while strengthening the project’s referral and reward structure.
The update allows users to inscribe a BIC district for 0.1 ICP, with transactions processed directly on-chain. According to the project, ICP joins existing payment methods including DOM, ckQOIN and QOIN. Unlike the other options, ICP inscriptions require users to access the system through a referral link provided by an existing member.
Project developers say the referral requirement is designed to encourage network growth through community participation. Users who complete an ICP inscription trigger an automated distribution model that allocates funds across multiple parts of the ecosystem.
Half of each 0.1 ICP inscription is directed to a referral chain. The immediate referrer receives 0.025 ICP, while rewards continue to flow upwards through earlier referral levels. Each successive level receives half the amount of the level below it. While payouts become progressively smaller further up the chain, the mechanism is intended to create ongoing incentives for early participants and active community members.
Another 20 per cent of each inscription is allocated to a holder pool shared among BIC district holders. Earnings accumulate within the canister and can be claimed once balances reach 0.05 ICP. The model distributes rewards equally on a per-district basis, regardless of when the district was originally inscribed.
A further 15 per cent is directed to a wallet earmarked for DOM buybacks. According to the project, these funds will be used to purchase DOM tokens on ICPSwap before removing them from circulation through burns. Supporters argue the mechanism could reduce supply over time, although the long-term impact will depend on inscription activity and market conditions.
The remaining 15 per cent is sent to the project’s domain canister, creating an additional revenue stream connected to the broader ecosystem.
The team says ICP users can track their referral activity, pending holder rewards and overall fund flows through the project’s Cockpit dashboard. The interface also provides users with their personal referral link, allowing them to invite new participants into the network.
Referral-based reward systems have become increasingly common across blockchain projects seeking to build user engagement. While advocates view such structures as effective community growth tools, prospective participants are generally encouraged to understand how rewards are generated and to assess the sustainability of any incentive model before committing funds.
The ICP inscription feature is now live, with project supporters promoting the referral network as a key driver of future participation and ecosystem growth.
Dear Reader,
Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.
We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.
