Caffeine AI brings community together at first Bali meetup

Caffeine AI hosted its first meetup in Bali on 23 August, drawing around 140 attendees from across different backgrounds. The event was put together with support from Internet Computer, ICP Hub Indonesia, Disruptives and Iana Pugachova, and featured live demonstrations, hands-on experience pods and a hackathon.

Participants had the chance to test the platform directly at Caffeine Experience Pods, where apps could be built in real time. The format was intended to show how both technical and non-technical users could take part, lowering barriers that often exist in software creation.

The hackathon formed a key part of the day. Submissions ranged from practical applications to creative concepts, with two projects standing out in particular. The Waste Management System project won in the technical track for its real-time coordination of waste collection and sustainability insights. Master Alchemy was recognised in the non-technical track for its gamified approach to chemistry education, blending play with learning.

Feedback was encouraged throughout the event, with organisers noting that comments from participants will help shape improvements to the platform. Many who attended spoke about the appeal of being able to contribute regardless of coding experience, a feature Caffeine AI has been keen to highlight.

Networking was another important element. Attendees used the opportunity to connect with AI enthusiasts, developers and community members who share an interest in decentralised applications. The organisers said the mix of perspectives was a strength, pointing to the diversity of backgrounds represented in the room.

While this was the first edition of Caffeine Bali, there was a clear sense from participants that more gatherings could follow. The organisers confirmed that the projects built during the day will be showcased on Caffeine’s wall of fame, a space dedicated to highlighting what users create with the platform.

The event underlined how open-ended AI tools are drawing attention in Southeast Asia, with Bali providing a lively backdrop for the launch. The challenge now for Caffeine AI will be keeping that momentum going, while demonstrating that the enthusiasm shown on the day can translate into lasting projects and community growth.
