Pierre Samaties has responded to a list of concerns raised about the Internet Computer ecosystem, saying the issues mentioned were either temporary, already resolved or presented without full context.
The concerns included the freezing of USDC, a disruption affecting ICPSwap, plans by KongSwap to wind down operations and claims that activity on Caffeine had remained flat during the first quarter.
According to Samaties, the USDC freeze was linked to action taken by Circle following a United States civil court order that affected 16 wallets across the wider crypto industry. He said the situation was not specific to ICP and noted that the DFINITY bridge wallet involved has already been unfrozen.
The response comes as stablecoin issuers continue to face pressure to comply with legal orders and regulatory requests. Similar freezes have taken place across several blockchain networks in recent years when wallet addresses become linked to legal disputes, investigations or sanctions.
Samaties, who serves as Chief Business Officer at DFINITY, also addressed the disruption affecting ICPSwap, which left part of the subnet unavailable for more than a day. He said engineers were able to identify the issue and restore service within 24 hours.
Although the outage caused frustration for users relying on the exchange, short term technical disruptions are not unusual in decentralised finance, particularly as platforms scale and handle larger volumes of transactions. Many blockchain based services have faced similar outages or performance issues at different stages of development.
The future of KongSwap was also raised. Samaties said the decision to wind down operations came from the KongSwap team itself rather than being the result of a broader issue with the ICP ecosystem.
He pointed out that ICPSwap and other decentralised exchanges remain active, while new projects are expected to launch during the second quarter. Competition between exchanges remains strong across the crypto market, with many platforms facing pressure to attract users, liquidity and trading activity.
Samaties also rejected claims that usage of Caffeine had remained flat during the first quarter. He described those suggestions as inaccurate and said they did not reflect actual activity levels.
His comments closed with a broader point about the direction of the ICP ecosystem. Samaties said attention had been placed on a handful of problems while more than 17 milestones and developments across the network had been overlooked during the same period.
