Just a week after Oasys reached a new peak in its price, it has integrated another significant player into its expanding roster. Oasys, an emerging blockchain network focused on gaming, has revealed a fresh collaboration with Metabora SG, the Web3 gaming arm of leading South Korean gaming firm Kakao Games. The partnership aims to “craft and deliver superior blockchain games to a wider audience,” as outlined in a statement released by Oasys on Wednesday. This initiative aligns with Oasys’ “Dragon Update” plan for 2024, which prioritizes enhancing interoperability, fostering ecosystem growth, and cultivating high-quality gaming content.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Metabora SG, a company that fully shares our vision of transforming the gaming industry through blockchain technology,” stated Dominic Jang, Head of Business Development and Head of Korea at Oasys.
Kakao Games is renowned for publishing titles like Black Desert Line and PUBG (in South Korea). The parent company, Kakao, is best known for KakaoTalk, a widely used free chat service in the country. Metabora has presented several blockchain games, including Skill Blitz, Birdie Shot, and ArcheStar. Jang expressed that the collaboration “marks another significant milestone for expanding our business” in South Korea. Oasys also aims to leverage its existing network in Japan to facilitate Metabora SG’s expansion into the country.
Oasys has gained momentum lately as the preferred network for traditional gaming giants venturing into the Web3 domain. Ubisoft, the publisher behind the Assassin’s Creed series, is currently developing its maiden original blockchain game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, on Oasys. In December, Ubisoft launched a complimentary Ethereum NFT collection associated with the game. Additionally, Sega is collaborating with Japanese studio Double Jump.Tokyo to introduce some of its intellectual properties to Web3 gaming through Oasys, starting with a Battle of the Three Kingdoms game. Meanwhile, gaming behemoth Bandai Namco (known for Pac-Man and Tekken) unveiled an experimental AI-driven game on the chain last year.
In the latest development, Oasys revealed that South Korean mobile game publisher Com2uS will migrate games from its XPLA ecosystem to Oasys. This announcement preceded a surge in the price of the OAS token, soaring to a new peak above $0.14 on February 13, before stabilizing at $0.12 at the time of writing, according to CoinGecko.
