Caffeine V3 launches with AI agent builds as demand surges

A new version of the Caffeine development platform has gone live, introducing a system where multiple AI agents work together to build applications, while early demand appears to be testing its capacity.

Caffeine V3 centres on a coordinated network of specialised agents that handle different parts of the build process at the same time. A central “composer” oversees the workflow, while a builder component reviews the project at each stage to keep outputs aligned. The aim is to reduce build times and improve reliability, particularly for users creating apps through prompts rather than traditional coding.

The update also adds more visibility into how projects are progressing. Users can track tasks as they run, complete or fail, and stop builds mid-process to adjust direction. Errors are flagged throughout, with failed steps retried automatically using prior context. The system is designed to revisit earlier stages if issues arise later in the pipeline.

Two build modes have been introduced to simplify the experience. An instant option starts generating an app straight away, while a guided mode asks follow-up questions before proceeding. A design agent now produces a structured brief, which informs both layout and visual consistency across the app.

Other additions focus on usability. A default preview panel shows the app as it is being built, with options to view layouts across desktop, tablet and mobile formats. Code has been moved to a separate tab, where changes can be compared side by side. Users can also search projects more easily, collapse the workspace and upload files directly into prompts.

Version control has been expanded, allowing users to view earlier builds and revert instantly if needed. Existing projects are being migrated to the updated system, with developers saying previously stalled builds may now complete under the new framework.

Dominic Williams, founder of the Internet Computer project, confirmed the release and pointed to further updates in the coming weeks, including what he described as cloud infrastructure tailored for AI-driven development.

The launch has not been without friction. A surge in usage following the rollout has led to performance slowdowns, with the team acknowledging the strain and working to stabilise the platform. It highlights the challenge of scaling tools that rely on intensive compute, particularly as interest in AI-assisted development continues to grow.

While the new features aim to make app creation faster and more accessible, questions remain around how such systems perform under sustained demand and how much control developers retain as more of the process is automated. For now, Caffeine V3 offers a clearer view of how agent-led software building is evolving, even as the platform works through its early growing pains.

Dear Reader,

Ledger Life is an independent platform dedicated to covering the Internet Computer (ICP) ecosystem and beyond. We focus on real stories, builder updates, project launches, and the quiet innovations that often get missed.

We’re not backed by sponsors. We rely on readers like you.

If you find value in what we publish—whether it’s deep dives into dApps, explainers on decentralised tech, or just keeping track of what’s moving in Web3—please consider making a donation. It helps us cover costs, stay consistent, and remain truly independent.

Your support goes a long way.
